Online DBT informed talking therapy
I am a qualified mental health nurse with over 10 years experience working in mental health services, including CAMHS, adult services and eating disorder services, providing DBT informed therapies.
These sessions are designed for people of all ages and take place in Easton, Bristol.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a talking therapy designed to develop skills in emotional regulation.
DBT emphasises acceptance and change, aiming to help individuals understand and accept their feelings while also learning skills to manage them more effectively. It embraces the idea that our reality is often made up of opposing thoughts and emotions, and both can be held as true at the same time.
During the initial session we will set goals, and then work on the following to work towards these goals:
- Reflection skills for understanding emotions
- Strategies to manage overwhelming emotions
- Distress tolerance techniques
- Acceptance
- Strategies to challenge and change emotional responses
I have many years experience working with people with neurodiversity. If you are neurodiverse and would like to try this type of therapy, we can work together (and with parents/carers) to make sure any adjustments are made to support you.
I have an enhanced DBS certificate and I am on the DBS update service. DBS certificate and Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN will be provided during the first session.
